So the last few days I've been having some trouble with my left kidney. So I've been drinking 8-10 oz of watter an hour to try and cleanse the iritant or diloute the infection. Well that was working out pretty well, there has been a steady decline in adominal/lower back pain and other symptoms. But what I didn't fully consider was drinking tons of watter + reduced kidney function = watter just stays in my body. I was packing for otakon last night and freaked out when I realized none of my pants fit me, even a pair I got last week.
I was tempted to sleep in suran wrap, and I'm still tempted to hit the sauna during lunch. But I think with my health so precarious I'm better of riding it out.
The silver lining? I may be a big fat watter butt but discovered as I put on my bra this morning I've got a touch of watter boobs as well.
See you at otakon,

Still on my iPhone but on my way home from work.
1. The reg form should be ok, let me know if your still having problems.
2. I know many of you may have questions about the colapse of the wcs. Unfortunatly most of what I could tell you is based on rummor and conjecture. Give me a little bit to confirm that the break up is 100% official and then truth, rummor, conjecture, every dark wisper and hastily closeted skelleton shall pour from my mouth in a tourent of words the likes of which you have not wittnesed or are ever likely to see again.
3. Enough about yesterdays news the search is on for our dream cosplay princess or princes. My for real advice to you is to enter this year if you at all can. The competition will be the easyest the first year, bc the prelim pool is smaller. Were talking to cons all over and the brand is taking off fast. The level of competition will increase as the network of involved conventions expands.
4. I'll post here too but keep your eyes on the nyaf site, were looking for more ways to make your japan expirence totaly awesome so there may be additional prize announcments.
Now I must sew franticly for otakon,
Anna
Masqrade registration is now live on the nyaf site. Longer post plus I will try questions answered when I'm not posting from my iPhone. Sun, Jul. 12th, 2009, 11:19 pm Stop It

Ok, I'm all for parents having the right to chose as individuals what is best for their individual children. But please do not dress your 6 year old like a some early 80's strumpet and put her on national TV with the hopes that she will catch the judges eye and win money. Anyone who's eye she catches dressed like that will want some thing unspeakable for their money. ~Anna
Hey, This post might be a little late since I went to Metrocon a month ago, but I've run in to persistent skepticism about FL cosplay, conventions and the community. Before going to FL I had many of the same reservations you might have. I had heard generally that FL had a lot of drama, although I didn't know any of the specifics I was unsure of what to expect. My apprehensions we're increased by only every having met one FL cosplayer. While my experiences with Athena-chan have been positive overall thats is a dangerously small sample size. So I went down to FL, and I found that there was drama in FL. But not an unusually high amount of drama. There was some drama in Florida, but there is some drama everywhere. Also as an outsider I was less subject to the existing drama then I would be at a convention at Anime Next where I know all involved parties. And much of it seemed to be at an organizational level and not having to do with most cosplayers individually. Most of the cosplayers we're polite, cooperative and a pleasure to work with. The cosplay was as good as, or often better then you would expect to find at similarly sized conventions. ( A look at the causes of Floridian Isolationism and how it has effected the perception of FL in the larger commuinity )
Ok so I'm pretty good at sewing, but I'm terrible at tailoring. And I need to make some alterations to a jump suit that I am turning in to a romper. The biggest problem I'm having is that the waist and crouch are too low and that makes my legs look really short and stubby. I made this sketch to show the problem, the brown lines are my body, and the blue lines are how it fits me now. I could just pull the whole thing up at the middle, I'm concerned because I have a big butt (and lying about it would be detrimental to my personal interests), that doing so will mean I don't have enough room in the seat. I can try and take the legs apart and make the crouch go up more in the front, but I'm not sure if that would fuck up the position of the side of the leg seams. Your advice is greatly appreciated, ~Anna
I'll be heading down to ota friday night so I'm on my own getting there, but if anyone has car space Sunday afternoon going north I'd gladly share gas and toll costs.
Let me know,

Last night during dinner, I mentioned an internet meme (I don’t remember which one) during a conversation with my mother about how the internet is affecting here work with children. She found a child writing lol in the margins or one of his textbooks, and asked him what it meant. It became immediately clear that she didn’t know what a meme was, I tried to illustrate with an example, and then ended up having to explain who Rick Ashton was, and latter why he was in the Macys parade. I tried a different tact bringing up other meme’s that have crossed over in to larger popular culture. I touched briefly on two girls one sub, and then had to uncomfortablely sum up that yes, you can see people having s*x on the internet, for free even. I summarized that it was a very gritty scatological depiction of procreation, and was possibly demeaning to both the viewer and the subjects.
I tried to explain lol cats, but as she didn’t know what lol was I decided that one picture was worth a thousand words, and brought her back in to my room to show her the internet. She had of coarse been on the internet before, she has purchased plants from several gardening sites, likes to look at my photos on flickr from time to time and exchanges email with her sisters. But that is like saying that you’re well traveled after seeing your back yard.
The first thing I did was goggle “meme” figuring that the internet knows everything, the wikipeda article taught me that it was derived from the greek word mimema for something imitated. It also necessitated me explaining that wikipedia was ‘like encyclopedia Britannica but written by everyone, everywhere’. Then I hoped over to Urlesque, for some quick link lists.
We watched some classic movie trailers edited to look like horror films, I showed her some ymds, and we looked at a you tube compilation of lol cats. I felt some how my explanation was failing her, b/c she seemed very confused about it not always (or even usually) being the cat owners that add text to the photos of cats. It’s other people, who do it with humorous intent, not just because they really love cats, but to express their own sentiments and ideas.
So to try and explain the evolution of a meme, using nanerpus for illustration. That necessitated a very brief detour in to viral marketing. We watched the original commercial, and then a few re-edits and mash ups. I can’t say if I was successful, she pointed out the nanerpus was not very good (“his eye feel off”) and some of the videos were not very good either.
In the end she conceded that she always liked Christopher Walken b/c he’s such a strange and talented individual. She then asked to see some of my photos and we closed it with that. |
