Happy Thanksgiving!

There is nothing that makes me long for my childhood quite like having a cold. What I wouldn't give to be 12 years old and back in scotland right now so I could be fussed over by the staff. A indeterminate group of plump red faced cleaning women, cooks, governesses, school marms all middle aged women as clucky as a group of hens telling me that if I wore a wool sweeter like a sencible girl I wouldn't have taken a chill in the first place, but then bringing me concotions of honey and lemon, tea with just a thimble full of brandy (to help my breathing) hot compresses scented with lavender or mint, an extra lump of sugar in my scone because I'm taking it so well.

In memory all distinction between these women has faded, until they are an indinstiguishable group of woolen tights and polyester girdles occasionally churning forth an individual cool dry fleshy set of hands to pet my hair or take my temperature.

My journal has been hacked.

Well that sucks. Almost defiantly by some one I know, well thats what I get for not changing my pass word in like 5 years. At least it wasn't some russian spamer like happened to Yagathi.

So yeah, they logged, in and fond my single private entry from like 4 years ago and re-posted that. It was slightly embarrassing , but am lucky I don't have many secrets, fortunately me being sexualy attracted to men isn't much of a secret. Athough 4chan may light up.

I think they did a great job at AUSA and I'm really excited the ball is rolling this early on the 2010 regionals.

Please email me at my Gmail address, not anna.fischer@reis.com since I don't have access to my REIS email anymore.

Drew this over breakfast, because I can do that now.

Every silver lining has a touch of gray

So yesterday I got shit-canned from a job I hate.

I'm a little ambivalent about it, I can get by for a few months but then I'll really need another job. To get by I'll do pretty much anything, but I'm hoping this is an opportunity to move forward more aggressively in to a better work environment. I'll try for a month or two to get something I really want and if that doesn't work out I'll roll up my sleeves and settle for paying the bills.

So I'm looking, if your place is hiring keep me in mind.

Don't Stop Believing

Ok guys, I could be wrong but after brief searches on google, yahoo and flickr I believe I may have taken the best photo of peach o's ever.

A Morning After

I took it this morning after shooting a much less successful peach o's still life last night. I just saw the light moving in through the window and composed this on the fly.

Above is the image from last night and a photo from todays lunch shoot with Carrie. Who I owe a big thanks for helping me with my home work!

Holiday Cookie Exchange

Sunday December 20th
2pm-5pm
Brooklyn NY

I’m getting an early start this year with the annual holiday cookie
exchange. For those who haven’t attended before, you bring a large batch of
homemade cookies and an empty tin, and everyone gets to sample each others
creations and bring home a tin of goodies.

While festive dress is not required, this is the perfect time to break out
your ugliest sweater. I think it’d be cute to have a bunch of us like this:

it's turtles all the way down

So I was eating food, and thinking that it sucked that the food was all unevenly heated from the microwave. Then I realized that so much of what I accept in my life as concrete are completely mystical to me. I have no idea why a microwave works. I can get as far as saying that a very high frequency of radio wave accelerates water particles in the food making them hot. But thats just a veneer covering where understanding breaks down.

I mean why do raido waves accelerate water? How do they make radio waves? Something with magnets maybe? I have no fucking idea; and more importantly how many of the things that I interact with all the time do I just accept as part of the landscape with out any real attempt at understanding them

Maybe I drank to much, because I've got a headache.

So two guys walk in to a train car, and then mug me. Not much of a punchline more of a major delay on my way to class yesterday morning. I was riding the L train about 8:30 am a few stops from manhateen and deep in to hipster teritory when two young black men snached my purse and ran out in to the station I chased them up the stairs and over to a Brooklyn bound train. I barely made the train by taking a running dive for it landing badly on my hip. I got up and a woman silently pointed to the front of the train. I chased them through the train cars screaming for help and to call the conductor (L trains have an emergency call button) but no one helped or even got up to call. Instead they all watched the spectacle with that amused detachment NYers are so famous for. Looking with out making eyecontact. I caught them in the first car with no where left for them to run.

I jumped on the one holding my purse getting my sholder up under his armpit and raking my nails down his wrist and palm, he lossened his grip and I was able to get my hand around the strap in side of his. I then fully extended my arm and back and because I was taller and under his arm started prying him away. The whole time I was screaming and cursing like the daughter of a banchie and a salior. He came down on my head twice with his elbow a glancing blow against my jaw and a sharper on to my left temple. He but he wasn't able to get any force behind it because I was in too close. His friend tried to shove me off him so I slamed him backwards in to a train door. The shoved me away from him and my leg got tangled in a metal poll smarting my knee. But I had my purse back and I ran up to the conductors door banging and scraming. The guys were yelling that I wanted to get hit and that I was crazy etc. But when we pulled in to the next station they decided discression was the better part of valor and took off.

The conductor finaly put in his apperance telling me to go to the booth upstairs and have them call the police who arived about 20 min latter. Much to late to try and catch anyone, sice I had recovered my property the took a description of the guys, black male one about 5'8 in a red puffy jacket other 6' in a black hoodie in a flanel shirt and then my number incase anything came up.

One walked me back down to the train platform making small talk. He asked what kind of class I was taking and said he was suprised it wasn't cooking because I looked like a good cook. I thanked him ackwardly unsure if he was making a crack about my weight, or mabe one of those traditonalist guys who think a woman with a big butt will make a good hearth keeper. Then I dissapered in to the silvery press of an arriving train and slid back in to my daily routine with only a few bruises to tell the tale.

Friday assisted a friend with some shopping then went to Dia's birthday party. A great time was had by all.

Saturday got home at 3am (stupid L shuttle bus).

Got up at 8am, cleaned up a little then went to the Photo Expo.

Did NOT get a new lens (cries).

Went to the pumpkin festival lolita meet up, got rained on (no umbrella) but got some good pics.

Went to the dumpling festival, epic fail they were sold out of dumplings.

Ended up spending 12$ on a lame salad at whole foods, breakfast at 4pm.

Went home charged my batteries, changed clothes and ate a slice of cheese and a mini peppermint patty for lunch at 6pm.

Packed up my gear and went to the steam punk after party at the way station. Caught in a down poor this time with an umbrella.

Took photos, shook hands, gave out cards went home.

Get ready for bed, drink a mug of cider for dinner, make this LJ post.

Tomorrow Groceries! Adrian's dance preformance! See the family!
